The information we collect
Information you give us
When you complete an enquiry form on this website, we collect your name, email address, telephone number and whatever you tell us in your message. If you contact us by phone, email or in person, we collect the details you choose to give us so that we can help you. If you go on to buy from us, we keep the information needed to fulfil and account for that order, such as delivery address and order details.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our web server keeps standard logs which may include your IP address, browser type and the pages you visited. We use these only to keep the site secure, running properly and free of abuse.
What we do not do
We do not sell goods online, take card payments through this website, or ask you to create an online account. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone. We do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling.
How we use your information, and our lawful basis
Data protection law requires us to have a “lawful basis” for using your information. Ours are as follows:
- To answer your enquiry and quote for work – our legitimate interests in responding to people who contact us, and taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
- To supply goods and services, and arrange delivery – performance of our contract with you.
- To keep business and accounting records – our legal obligations, including HMRC requirements.
- To keep the website secure and working properly – our legitimate interests in protecting our business and our visitors.
- To send you marketing, if you have asked us to – your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who we share your information with
We only share personal information where we need to, and we do not sell it. We may share it with:
- Our website hosting provider, who stores this website and any enquiries submitted through it.
- Our email provider, which we use to receive and reply to your enquiry.
- Google, if you view the map on our Contact or How to Find Us pages (see “Cookies” below).
- Google, where you have consented to advertising cookies, so we can measure how well our online adverts perform.
- Delivery drivers and hauliers, where needed to deliver your order.
- Our accountants and professional advisers, where required.
- Law enforcement or regulators, where we are legally required to do so.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. This website uses very few of them.
- Essential cookies are needed for the site to work – for example to remember your cookie choices, or to keep our staff logged in to the administration area. These do not require your consent.
- Google Maps is embedded on our Contact and How to Find Us pages. When that map loads, Google may set its own cookies and receive your IP address. This is not essential to the site, so we ask for your consent first.
- Advertising cookies may be set by Google if you have accepted them, so that we can measure how well our adverts work. See “Advertising” below. These are never set unless you consent.
We do not currently use website analytics. We host our own fonts and video, so no data is sent to third parties for those.
When you first visit, you will see a cookie banner allowing you to accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link, or by clearing cookies in your browser settings.
Advertising
We advertise our products online using Google Ads. If you click one of our adverts, Google adds a reference to the web address so that we can tell which advert brought you to us.
Where you have accepted advertising cookies, Google may also set cookies on your device so that we can measure whether an advert led to an enquiry, and so that our adverts may be shown to you again on other websites. These cookies are only set if you give consent through our cookie banner, and you can withdraw that consent at any time using the cookie settings link.
We do not receive information from Google that identifies you personally – we only see anonymous, aggregated reports about how our adverts performed. Google processes this information as a separate data controller under its own privacy policy.
Social media
We have pages on Facebook and LinkedIn. Our website simply links to them – it does not embed their content or tracking. If you visit or interact with those pages, message us through them, or leave a review, those platforms will process your information under their own privacy policies, over which we have no control. Any information you send us through social media is used only to respond to you.
How long we keep your information
- Enquiries that do not lead to business: normally up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Customer and transaction records: at least 6 years plus the current financial year, to meet HMRC and accounting requirements.
- Website server logs: a short period, for security and troubleshooting.
- Marketing consents: until you withdraw your consent.
Storing your information outside the UK
Some of the providers we rely on, such as our email provider and Google Maps, may process information outside the UK. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.
Keeping your information safe
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including a secure (HTTPS) website, access controls and limiting access to those who need it. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data and to notify you and the regulator if a serious breach occurs.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete your information, where there is no good reason for us to keep it.
- Ask us to restrict how we use your information.
- Object to us using your information for our legitimate interests, or for direct marketing.
- Ask us to transfer your information to another organisation, in certain circumstances.
- Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

Links to other websites
Our website may link to other websites, such as suppliers or certification bodies. This policy does not apply to those sites, and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. We would encourage you to read their privacy policies.
